Thirty-five years, one license number, same company. Gopher Roofing & Restoration handles roof replacement, repairs, and hail claims for Fridley homeowners. MN License BC794536, fully insured, free inspections.
Fridley’s housing came in two waves. The brick ramblers of the fifties, then a large rebuild after May 1965 when tornadoes took out a quarter of the city. Together, that accounts for more than half of what stands here today.
What matters is not the history. It is what those two waves left under the shingles. Board decking with gaps wide enough to matter. Attics vented at the ridge but never at the soffit. Step flashing that has now been reused across two roofs instead of replaced.
None of that is visible from a driveway. A roofing contractor in Fridley, MN, quoting from the street is quoting a guess. We get on the roof and into the attic before a number exists.
Full replacement. Tear-off, then an honest look at what is underneath. Decking sheeted where it fails, soffit intake reopened, ridge vent sized to the attic, ice and water shield at eaves and valleys, all flashing new. Architectural shingles over that. Where hail is a recurring cost, we also quote Class 4 impact-resistant so you can weigh the premium discount against the upfront difference.
Repairs. Some Fridley roofs have years left and one failing part. A pipe boot split by UV. Ridge shingles lifted by a west wind off the river corridor. Chimney counterflashing pulling out of the mortar joint. We price single-issue roof repair on its own and will tell you plainly when replacement is not yet warranted.
Hail and wind. This is where most calls here begin. Hail bruising is close to invisible from the ground and unmistakable from a ladder. We inspect free, mark and photograph every impact, and tell you honestly whether the damage supports a claim. A denied claim is not a neutral outcome, so we would rather you know first.
Apartments and commercial. Multifamily and industrial property runs along University Avenue NE, Highway 65, and East River Road. We handle apartment building roofing plus flat and low-slope commercial systems, working the same way throughout Anoka County and the north metro.
A hailstorm brings knockers to every door in the neighbourhood. Some are competent. Some will have a different company name by spring. We have been roofing the north metro since 1990 under one name. Four things worth confirming with anyone:
A storm went through, and you are not sure what it did. We will get on the roof, mark what we find, photograph it, and give you a straight read on whether filing makes sense. No charge, and no push either direction.
One licensed contractor for roof, walls, and windows. All of our exterior work is specified for Minnesota’s hail seasons and freeze cycles.
Brick ramblers and rebuild-era homes, with decking and ventilation addressed rather than shingled over.
Single-ply and metal systems for buildings along University Avenue NE and East River Road.
Impact-rated cladding that holds up through hail seasons and refreshes a sixty-year-old exterior.
Replacement units for original single-pane and early double-pane windows still in mid-century homes.
Every slope surveyed, impacts marked and photographed, attic and soffits checked.
Photographs, a square count, and a priced scope. If there is a claim to make, you will know before you call your insurer.
Tear-off and dry-in the same day, magnet sweep every evening, permit and inspection closed out by us.
Call us first. Hail bruising is hard to judge from the ground, and a claim filed on damage that does not support it can still sit on your record. We inspect for free and tell you which way it goes before you open anything.
Bruising is an impact that crushes the mat under the granules without breaking the surface. It shortens shingle life without leaking immediately, which is why it gets overlooked and why it needs marking and photographing to be approved.
Often, here. They cost more upfront, and most Minnesota carriers discount the premium for them. On a home that has already claimed hail once, that discount tends to recover the difference. We quote both so you can compare the actual figures.
It can be. Solid soffits with no intake mean the attic pulls no air, which cooks shingles in summer and builds ice dams in winter. Many were closed during siding jobs decades back. While the roof is off is the cheapest moment to reopen them.
Yes. Apartment properties make up close to a third of the housing here. We phase those projects so tenant access and parking are maintained throughout.
Licensed BC794536 from the State of Minnesota. Liability and workers’ compensation are both current, and both certificates come attached to the proposal rather than on request.
Yes. TPO, EPDM, metal, and modified bitumen across the commercial and industrial corridors on University Avenue NE, Highway 65, and East River Road.
One to two for most homes here, since rooflines are generally straightforward. We commit to a date range in writing, not a best-case.
Not that day. Take the card, get a second inspection, and compare. Any contractor confident in their work will still be available next week.
Most of a roof is invisible once the last shingle is on. What you are really buying is whoever decided how the parts underneath went together. These reviews come from people who found that out afterwards.

I highly recommend Gopher Roofing and Restoration, Inc. Following a recent hail storm, I was inundated with calls, texts, and in-person visits from a multitude of roofing contractors, many of which were headquartered out of state and used aggressive, hard-sell tactics. The letter I received from Gopher Roofing, a small, locally-owned company, stood out to me. After I discovered that Gopher had received very favorable reviews from other customers in the past complimenting the quality of its roofing work as well as the honesty and reliability of its employees, I called for an initial appointment. Jason promptly responded and came to assess the damage. He did a thorough inspection, explained his findings and answered all of my questions. He was very respectful and did not pressure me to make a quick decision. I ultimately decided to use Gopher Roofing to re-roof my house and shed and am very pleased that I did.. After I submitted a claim to my insurance company, Jason updated me on changes to the insurance coverage allowance that he felt were necessary, brought those suggestions to the claims adjuster, and successfully obtained the requested adjustment. The scheduling and completion of my roof project went very smoothly. A trailer for the tear-off materials was only on my driveway for one night and placed so I had use of my garage. Supplies were delivered and available for use without delay, but were not stored on my property for an excessive period of time. Jason went above and beyond to communicate with me during the process--he even sent periodic text messages with pictures as work progressed. The Gopher crew got the job done within a day and a half. They did an excellent job of cleaning up nails and other debris on the driveway and lawn, which was extremely important to my dog and me! Their attention to details was impressive. I am very pleased with the work done by Gopher Roofing and Restoration as well as the entire process they followed in dealing with insurance company representatives and keeping me informed of the expected schedule. This is an honest, reliable, and extremely trustworthy company that clearly takes pride in its work and genuinely cares about its customers. Communications by e-mail, text and phone were excellent. Without hesitation, I’ll contact Gopher Roofing and Restoration, Inc. for any future needs!![]()

The siding of my house was installed by Gopher Roofing & Construction over 15 years ago. Recently I needed some repair on it and when contacted, Jason found the old paperwork and procured the matching siding. He came over to check and confirm the siding matched and his crew completed the work the next day. Overall an excellent job.![]()

Jason was prompt and provided a concise estimate for the job and explained why he priced the way he did. Within 2 days of signing the estimate he had a crew scheduled to do the install. The installation went smoothly and they did uncover some issues that they had to remedy. The gutter installation was contracted out, but the contractor he used had them installed within 2 hours and did a good job. I would recommend Gopher to anyone in the Metro looking for a solid and reliable roofer.![]()

We hired Gopher Roofing to replace our shingles and gutters, and we highly recommend them. We live in Northeast, and it was especially great having a local contractor with local expertise and lengthy experience. Jason was great and helpful at navigating the insurance process. His team worked quickly and did good work, helpfully finishing our roof in one day to minimize disruption to our dogs. Perhaps the biggest value is Jason's knowledge and experience, which he shared frequently.![]()

Jason was great to work with. His crew did a great job 15 years ago, so when hail damaged it beyond repair, I knew he was the right choice to replace it again. His crew showed up on schedule and we're very efficient. My wife has a lot of flowers and bushes around the house that she worries about. NOT a one was damaged. They did a fantastic job cleaning up. Once I submitted the claim Jason handled everything with the insurance company. We are completely satisfied with everything they have done for us!Google rating score: 5.0 of 5, based on 44 reviews
